The Strength of Seeds
unwinding, unwrapping
the seeds are hatching
building strength with
each heightened latching
the endless shapes and shades of green
the lights and darks and all between
overlapping, intertwining
the stems emerge
commence their climbing
from shaded soil
with arms outstretched
we exchange life with every breath
she can’t ascend
if tight you hold her
the gorgeous process
of growing older
and once they fall
those withered leaves
the plants persist
they need not grieve
they do not fear nor doubt their worth
for each decay feeds a new birth
